Storyline

Ge Shisan, Chang Erkuan and Chou Wa are three people with distinct life experiences and different personalities. They are hot-blooded ordinary soldiers of Northwest Army. They get together due to fate and chance and become brothers who are ready to die for each other. When the Anti-Japanese War breaks out near the Yellow River, they join the Communist Party, the Kuomintang and the Japanese invasion forces respectively. From then on, their fates diverge because of their own choices. To achieve their own goals, they are forced to fight each other. Nevertheless, from time to time, they also get confused and miserable because of their previous friendship. During this time of trouble, people cannot exercise their free will and reach to their loved ones, just like the duckweed flowing in the water. Ge Shisan and Zhao Zhiyi love each other but have to kill each other. Under the test of patriotism and national interest, their love story is bound to be a tragedy. Chou Wa loves Hu Yingying. But Hu Yingying is a spy and their mission is to kill each other. Conspiracy is intertwined with love; their confrontation is escalating step by step.
