Storyline

This is the story of a tragic accident, a mysterious island, a lost girl, a magical horse, a fateful friendship, and an unexpected adventure - SKYE knows she didn't start the fire in her apartment. But no one, not even her mother, seems to believe her. Which is why she's been sent to spend the summer on the remote island of JORVIK, with her mother's childhood friend and her daughter, RANIA. Skye will be volunteering at the Ranger's station in MISTFALL, working with the horses - a dream come true for many 16-year-olds, but not for a girl who's spent her entire life in urban Washington Heights, where the closest thing to a horse was the mechanical pony ride outside the grocery store. That is, until Skye forms a bond with a wild mare she names BLAZE. With a horse she adores and a new best friend in Rania, Skye is happy - until mysterious wildfires begin ripping through the island's beloved national forest. The Rangers are determined to track down what they're certain is an arsonist - and Skye, the new girl with a secret history, seems like the obvious suspect. Especially when a mysterious symbol appears seared into the ground at the site of the fires. When a mystifying discovery leads Skye to distrust the head ranger as much as he does her, their mutual hostility leads them down a very dangerous path. The outcome of which leaves Skye with more questions than answers about her beloved horse, Blaze, and sets Skye, Rania and Blaze on a journey, oblivious to where it might take them.
