Storyline

Southern California's hot rod car culture and the business of creating classics in the genre is alive and well. In the heart of SoCal is Da Rod Shop, where proprietors and best friends Billy Derian and Steve Reck turned their dream of working in a garage that fixes up and restores vintage cars and hot rods into a reality, and -- lo and behold -- this reality series followed. Derian -- no stranger to TV work, having appeared as the host and landscape designer on DIY's "Extra Yardage," among other high-profile gigs -- is the shop's salesman, a mover and shaker who has big plans for the business. Reck mostly works on the cars, helped by a crew that includes his son Shane, who is said to be "allergic" to grease, and Billy's son Billy Jr., the staff's newbie who quit his insurance job to join his dad's endeavor.
