About this title

Storyline

WLUK-TV had purchase the RKO film package in 1956, which gave them the rights to aired these movies in perpetuity. In 1977 the station's master controller Doug Heim realised that there were no other television stations airing programs after 1:00am. He suggested to the station's management that a one-person hosted movie show would be economical to run. He suggested that the person could be called "TJ" or "Television Jockey". The idea was accepted so long as Heim was TJ, with a four week trial given the go ahead. The show was titled "TJ and the All Night Theatre", although the station had wanted "TV-11 All Night", although the show was known as "TJ and the ANT". The show debuted on 6 May 1977 with the first horror movie screened on 24 June 1977. The show had various starting times over the years but usually was on until early Saturday mornings. Up to five movies were shown on each show. The last show was aired on 5 March 1982.
