Storyline

"Taking Fire" provides an in-depth look at a group of American soldiers deployed to defend the gateway to one of the planet's deadliest places, the Taliban-held Korengal Valley in Afghanistan. Actual combat footage shot on helmet-mounted and handheld cameras supplements stories told by the men on the front lines to create a powerful experience that goes beyond what is seen in typical documentaries about war. The character-driven series covers a yearlong deployment of the 101st Airborne Division, showing the impact that war has had on the men during their time on the base in Afghanistan.
