Storyline

Maria Clara is a humble, hard working girl, engaged to a man named Carlos Raul, who is a mechanic. She is living in Caracas with her mother Teresa and her younger sister Andrea. Maria Clara and Carlos Raul are preparing to get married but everything changes when he gets fired. Unemployed and penniless, Carlos Raul decides to go to Miami to find his fortune and when he gets settled, promises to ask Maria Clara to join him. Maria Clara is left behind with a sick mother and a very spoiled, capricious sister. Carlos Raul arrives in Miami, stays with a friend called Florencio and gets a job as a mechanic. One day a wealthy woman, named Barbara has trouble with her car and Carlos Raul repairs it. Barbara takes a fancy to him and they start a relationship. She gives him a job in one of her hotels and quickly promotes him to chief of staff. Things are going for him until the day when Maria Clara arrives and now he is torn between the woman he really loves and the woman, who gave him a touch of living like a millionaire.
