About this title

Storyline

The series begins with Nira and her friends Emi, Samantha, Chris and Aiden making the most of the Covid-19 lock down - recording vlogs, embarrassing their siblings, learning dances. But, when the stay-at-home order drags on into its sixth week, the self-isolation begins to take its psychological toll. Boredom, restlessness and anxiety start to set in. Late one sleepless night, Nira hears a loud scream from next-door that kicks off a mystery for her and her friends to solve. But they can't solve it alone. They recruit Nira's next to next-door neighbor Luke, who lives on the other side of the house that the scream came from and who Emi has a crush on, to help with surveillance. The following night Luke takes a shaky video that looks suspiciously like someone burying something in their mutual neighbor's backyard. Since they don't have enough evidence of wrongdoing to get the police involved, they take their investigation to the next level. Nira tries some reconnaissance on her daily walk outside and when that fails spectacularly the group does a virtual stake out using Nira and Luke's phones, their parents' tablets and laptops. During the stake out it becomes clear that the inclusion of Luke in their group has a serious impact on their dynamic - as new friends often do. But that doesn't stop them from continuously upping their game, eventually one of them goes to dig up whatever's buried in the backyard, only to discover what was there is now gone. And while this detective game is an excellent distraction from what's going on in the world, the evolving health crisis is always on their minds. And eventually, it comes into their homes too. Just when Luke becomes their number one suspect due to some dodgy behavior, the rest of them learn he's been acting weird because the retirement home where his grandmother lives just reported a Covid-19 outbreak. Furious that they suspected him, Luke bails on the whole thing. Suddenly it seems silly to be worried about their neighbor when the virus threat has become all the more real, which causes a chain reaction of people ditching the investigation. Unfortunately for Nira, the moment she's most alone is exactly when she discovers the neighbor is onto her. So much so that Nira thinks the neighbor is in her house with her. And, in a way, they are. When Nira's fear is at an all-time high, she discovers the real culprit: her older sister Gabby. Gabby has been pranking her as payback for Nira embarrassing her in the early days of the lock down and, partially, as a way to take Nira's mind off the pandemic. At the end of season one, we'll see Gabby's POV of how she pulled off the ultimate prank and set up that Nira is determined to get her back
