Storyline

From the director of the award-winning Israeli thriller Fauda comes Line in the Sand, Keshet 12's intense new crime drama. Set around 15 years ago on Israel's golden coast and inspired by real events, Line in the Sand stars Tshai Halevi (The Grave, Fauda) as Alon Shenhav, an idealistic and morally unshakable police detective who returns to his hometown with his wife Miki and teenage daughter Tom. Away from the sun-kissed shores of the beach, however, residents in Nahariya live in constant fear: a local gangland boss and crime kingpin controls every aspect of the town's daily life. He extorts money from business owners, is involved in money-laundering rackets and his fierce army of henchmen rule the streets with an iron fist. Thanks to the local police force's lackluster efforts, Maor Ezra is left to his own devices. With every passing day, his vice-like grip on the town gets stronger and the tentacles of his criminal empire grow. A bomb attack on the police station forces Alon to consider what it will truly take to bring the crime lord down. Encouraged by veteran detective Reuven, and with his career and family's lives on the line, Alon decides to walk down a path where the line between right and wrong is blurred. Soon Alon and Ezra are locked in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, where each act of violence begets another until an inexorable and destructive end game looms into view. Elsewhere, Miki, a public prosecutor, undertakes her own investigation into Ezra's financial dealings and assets. When she finds enough evidence to apprehend him, she's shocked to find Alon is a changed man, intent on completing his relentless pursuit until there's only one man left standing. Part-modern western, with elements of The Wire and The Untouchables, Line In The Sand is a cautionary tale of obsession, sacrifice and how one man's quest for justice shifts his moral compass to the extent he becomes the very thing he despises. Described by Ynet as "exceptionally enthralling" and featuring "excellent performances" (Walla), Line in the Sand debuted to record ratings and rave reviews in Israel. The first two episodes of Line in the Sand premiered as a double-bill, securing viewing shares of 29.6% and 25.2% respectively on Israel's most-watched commercial channel. Line in the Sand is now Israel's highest rating drama since 2015.
