About this title

Storyline

"Liegebeest" is a puppet-show about a green snake-type creature with big ears and a bow-tie who only tells lies. He lives in a medieval castle on "Rainbow Island", a small isle that floats on top of a cloud. The castle is populated by a most unusual troop of people. There's Grandma and her two grandkids, Fientje and Willem, who are basically the main characters. There's the annoying Prince Dikkie, a spoiled brat who thinks he can boss everyone around and thinks he's Elvis, Michael Jackson and TAFKAP all at once. Froes is the loveable grandfather-figure, a confused scientist whose experiments usually explode. Meneerke is a detective who has an obsession with Liegebeest to capture him and put him in the zoo. Guarding the castle are three incompetent soldiers, Dries (who only thinks about food), Carolus (who has delusions of grandeur) and Corneel (a sword wielding crazed Spaniard). Augustijn is a singer who can't sing and Kelderman is a quiet little green man who lives in the basement with his pet spider. The cast get into all kinds of adventures, play around with magic and sing an awful lot of songs. And to mix it all up, there's Liegebeest playing tricks on everybody...
