About this title

Storyline

Count Phillipe L'Entrique Elan de Chanel, who was also Count Givenchy and the Duke de Fantom, had a successful career as a duke who ruled over the land by day and a masked Zorro-esque swashbuckling adventurer called Fantomcat by night. His triumphs ended in 1699, when his archenemy Baron Von Skeltar, a dangerous sword-fighter and alchemist, used his knowledge of magic to imprison Phillipe in one of his own paintings with the Crystal of Malevolence, a stone so powerful that it can change worlds. The painting stood in his Castle De Fantom for centuries as the world around the castle changed and Metro City was eventually built. When the Metro City Police Department's Detective Team take a wrong turning into the Castle, Fantomcat is finally freed. He decides to continue his fight for justice and help the Detective Team, headed by top New Yorker feline cop Penelope Tabitha "Tabs" Wildcat and her police partners MacDuff the Mouse, who speaks with a Scouse accent and hates holes and dark places, and Lindbergh the Pigeon, who speaks gobbledygook and hates flying. Their archenemy is the biggest crime lord in town - a black widow spider many, many times over called Marmagora and her henchmen - pet carnivorous fly trap Gloria, right hand fly and yesman Vile the Bluebottle and Vinnie the Vole, the one henchman with some brains. The other villain they sometimes face is the Monitor, a planet destroying overlord from outer space. Baron Von Skeltar also makes a comeback, when Marmagora revives him to stop Fantomcat once again. He is thought dead after Fantomcat defeats him in the first episode, but he survives and is awaiting revenge on him.
