About this title

Storyline

The Australian version of the elimination quiz where six contestants spend a weekend with each other competing in various physical and mental tests. During this evaluation weekend, the contestants have to try and find out each others' strengths and weaknesses. Back in the studio, four challenges are set. One of the challenges is based on words, one is based on mathematics, one is a physical challenge and the other challenge is based on logic or reasoning, with the order of the challenges varying between episodes. For each challenge, the contestants nominate the person they think is most likely to fail the challenge. The contestant who receives the most nominations has to take the challenge on. If that contestant fails the challenge, then they are banished to the Losers' Bench, and are out of the running to win the cash prize, but if they succeed, they can exact their revenge by sending one of the contestants who nominated them to the Losers' Bench in their place. If there is a tie in the votes in the first round, then one contestant is selected at random to cast another vote for one of the tied contestants. In the next three rounds, the last person to be sent to the Losers' Bench is automatically given the casting vote when there is a tie. After the four challenges, the final two contestants go head-to-head in the Grid, where they aim to be the first to find the path to the end of a grid of 25 squares. When a contestant steps on a correct square, it will turn white, and the contestant then has to decide which of the other adjacent squares, horizontally, vertically or diagonally, will mark the continuation of the path. If a contestant steps on an incorrect square, any lights on the grid will go out, strobe lights on each of the corners will flash and the contestant has to return to the start and re-trace their steps before they can try another option. The path through the board is the same for both contestants, though it is up to them how much attention they pay to their opponent's choices. The first contestant to find a correct square on the final row, which will mark the end of the path, becomes the Top Dog, but there is one final challenge that they have to face. The final challenge sees the Top Dog compete against the five eliminated contestants on the Losers' Bench in a best-of-five question quiz. For each question, the Top Dog will be told what the category is (eg: Politics, Entertainment, Sports) before they choose one contestant from the Losers' Bench to answer the question. They have to choose carefully because each contestant can only be chosen once. The question is then asked to the chosen contestant. If they give an incorrect answer, then the Top Dog scores a point, but if they answer it correctly, then the Losers score a point. The first side to score three points wins $50,000. If the Top Dog wins, they take all of the money, but if the Losers win, then each of them receives $10,000.
