About this title

Storyline

30 kings and queens, princes and princesses tell a fantastic story about power, love, triumph, tragedy and honor. Through the frank interviews, viewers are given a unique insight into generations of family unity across country borders. And in this way, a piece of exciting European history is recounted from a time when superpowers, through marriage, controlled Europe. At the end of the 1800's the Danish King, Christian IX, managed to marry his 6 children into the dominating European royal families and Christian IX therefore, became known as "Europe's father-in-law". One of his daughters became Queen of England, another the Empress of Russia, whilst two of his sons became Kings of Denmark and Greece, respectively. Today, his lineage is found all over Europe. Research and footage for this unique series has taken place all over Europe through 4 years and the royal descendants have contributed with private photographs and film, many of which have never been publicized. All interviews have been recorded in English.
