1066: A Year To Conquer England

Storyline

History presenter Dan Snow explores one of the most important eras in early English history: the eleventh century. This was a time of great political and familial rivalry between the major players of the day, the Vikings, the Anglo-Saxons, and the Normans, which culminated in two infamous battles, the Battle of Stamford Bridge and the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Using a combination of documentary and scripted drama, Dan helps bring to life key moments and characters from the Norman Conquest of Britain, as Harald Hardrada and William I race to put together invasion forces in order to wrestle control of the English throne from Earl Harold.
