About this title

Storyline

A 13 week season of nostalgic, themed programming, introduced by Frank Muir, shown on Saturday nights, in which Channel Four would dedicate a night's viewing to great British television from one specific year. Each 'episode' would feature full episodes of classic and rarely screened shows from the featured year, including plays, sit-coms, dramas, specials and pilots. Most of the shows featured had not been screened since their original broadcast and, often, have not been seen or released since. The entire evening's schedule would often run for around three hours in total. The evening's line-up would also include small compilations of clips, adverts and opening titles, from that chosen year, between each individual show, all introduced by Muir, who would sit against a heaven-themed backdrop. The chosen years were not shown chronologically, the oldest being a 1950s special and the most recent being 1978. Sadly, a second season never materialized.
