About this title

Storyline

The game begins with 12 contestants who all start out as complete strangers to each other. The contestants are split into three teams of four people each, which are referred to by the colourful names of Team Scarlet, Team Gold and Team Navy. At the start of each leg, everyone in the team has to put on a set of blackout goggles and noise cancelling headphones before the teams are transported to the leg's starting location, referred to as the "Drop Zone", which could be anywhere in the world. After all of the teams arrive at the drop zone, they receive a signal that they can remove their goggles and headphones. They could begin in the middle of a local festival or the middle of nowhere. The teams are given a couple of minutes to take in their surroundings before receiving a message on their smart watches which contains a cryptic clue to the location of host David Genat. They are given some basic supplies and often a limited amount of the country's local currency for them to use in their search for David. When each of the teams finds him, he will let them know what position that team is currently in and then hand a dossier to them, which contains a briefing on one or two missions that each team has to complete while they are in the country, and often clues to the locations of specific accommodation where they will spend the night, as well as a clue to the location of the leg's Escape Zone to which the teams will need to travel after they complete their missions. When each team arrives at the specified overnight accommodation, they will receive a message on their smart watch informing them of their placing. The first team to check in at the overnight accommodation will be the first team to check out the following morning, and the other teams leave with the same order and time differences as when they arrived. After the teams have completed their mission or missions, they have to follow the dossier's clues to the location of the Escape Zone, where they once again have to find David. The first two teams to find him there will continue their adventure intact in the next country and will use a form of transportation provided at the Escape Zone to make good their escape, but the last team to find him has to eliminate one person from the team. If there are at least three people on the team, then they are given an opportunity to reach a majority decision about who to send home. If there are only two people left in the team or a team is unable to reach a majority agreement, then the person whose journey ends at that point is decided by chance through a game known as "Rush roulette", where each person selects a flare. One of the flares will give off red smoke when it is lit, while the others give off green smoke when lit. A person who receives a green flare will continue in the game, but the one person who receives the red flare is eliminated. Whichever way is used to eliminate a contestant, the surviving contestants from that team will use the provided transport to escape to their next country. The countries and eliminations continue until three people remain to visit the final country. This time, after they complete their last mission, each contestant receives a flare, with the first contestant to complete the mission receiving a green flare and the other two contestants receiving a red flare. After all of the contestants have completed the final mission, they are driven to the final Escape Zone where, after they are given an opportunity to reunite with their loved ones, they light the flares that they received at the end of their missions. The one contestant who received a green flare by being first to complete the missions is the winner of the game and receives A$100,000 cash and two first-class around-the-world tickets.
