Teach: Tony Danza

Storyline

Best known for his roles on sitcoms such as "Taxi" and "Who's the Boss," actor Tony Danza takes on a role unlike any other -- he signs on for a year at a Philadelphia high school. Cameras follow Danza as he teaches two sections of 10th-grade English at Northeast High School, covering classics such as "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Shakespeare. Though Danza had, in his pre-acting life, received a degree in history education, he was unable to obtain teaching certification in time for the show, which results in the presence of a certified co-teacher in the classroom (and likely accounts for his lighter-than-average workload for a high-school teacher as well). In addition to his classroom duties, Danza works with the football team, the band and the debate team.
