Storyline

Dr James Haberfield and his team of bizarre pet vets, treat Australia's most unusual animals. This talented group work around the clock, using their highly honed expertise, to save the weirdest and most wonderful pets in the country. In Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland, the team of vets and nurses from the Unusual Pet Vets treat every kind of exotic pet and this being Australia, most of their clients own very Aussie animals. From freshwater crocodiles and chatty parrots to sugar gliders and snakes, frogs and lizards, and mammals and dangerous animals: they are all regular patients at the clinics. Local wildlife is brought in, emergency cases arrive and the vets are called out to local zoos and aquariums for help - there is never a dull moment for a bizarre pet vet. Dr James Haberfield is the founder of the Unusual Pet Vets clinics. Based in Victoria, he loves working with all species of animals, but has particular interest in reptiles and has been keeping all sorts of lizards and snakes since he was 8-years old. His reptile collection, which he keeps with his father Chris, contains over one-hundred species of snakes and lizards. An expert in the field of medicine and surgery of unusual animals, Dr James demonstrates his superior knowledge and deft handiwork daily. From operating on an albino Darwin carpet python to a zebra finch; performing an endoscopy on a central bearded dragon to a king penguin; taking samples from an axolotl to white-lipped green tree frog to a black-headed python; or fixing improvised paperclip braces to a turtle and human ear-stretchers into rabbits! Dr James will do anything to save his clients beloved unusual animals. Also working from the Victorian clinic is Dr Hamish, Dr Shane, Dr Kiara and Dr Michelle. In Western Australia is Dr Lucinda and Dr Kelly and in Queensland, Dr Catherine. Between them, this crack team of vets can treat any unusual pet on the planet. For a bizarre pet vet, no two creatures are the same and the owners are a rare breed too!
