About this title

Storyline

"Hard to Be Me" revolves around Kevin Hamilton (Edward Robert Bach), a second year art-college student, who likes to express himself through his art. When his COMM 101 teacher turns out to be the intimidating Dr. Candice Wilkes (Kelli Biggs), Kevin is thrown for a loop. Things go from bad to worse when Dr. Wilkes assigns a weekly video-log (vlog) instead of a final exam. Suddenly, not only does Kevin have to use coherent words to pass his course, he must do so on a weekly basis while mastering the technology. During the course of Kevin's exploration, we meet his quirky art school friends and his family members. The episode is shown from multiple time-perspectives and points-of-view: three girls in a coffee shop viewing the finished vlog, Kevin's "real" time making of the vlog, interactions with his friends, and a retired couple who are learning about the technology for the first time. The feel of the show is a mixture of the best comedy-dramas from the past three decades, with family-friendly characters who are entertaining and relatable. Unlike many of today's TV programs that view the world, and particularly young people, in a cynical light, "Hard To Be Me" captures today's youth and families in a comical and positive manner that has not been seen on TV in recent years. At its core, "Hard To Be Me" focuses on the value of relationships and the links between people. "Hard To Be Me" takes the viewer inside the everyday world of today's students and social technologies.
