About this title

Storyline

In 1940, the U.S. Army solicited bids for a small, lightweight 4-wheel-drive reconnaissance and utility vehicle. Three automobile companies -- American Bantam, Willys-Overland, and Ford -- competed for the government contract, which Willys won. Dubbed the Jeep, it quickly became world-famous and beloved for its go-anywhere and do-anything capabilities. After World War II ended, Willys marketed versions of the Jeep as a general-purpose source of motive power and transportation for the farm.
