Storyline

The setting of the story is nature and life on a lonely island in the ocean gap. On this island, the 12-year-old Maria will spend the summer holidays with her parents and brother Jeppe, who is seven years old. Mother is a writer and father is a state meteorologist. Everyone lives in an old skipper's house that once belonged to the great-grandfather of Maria and Jeppe. By chance, the two children find a mysterious map in one of the house's old cupboards. The map is from 1781 and leads to an island on the island. They make their way to the mysterious island and arrive at an old barn where they find two green stones in a secret drawer that looks like eyes. Maria and Jeppe call the mysterious island Mira. One day a new family comes to Mirabelløya: Director Møller Madsen with his wife and son Jørgen who is almost as old as Maria. Jørgen is also eventually initiated into the secret of Maria and Jeppe. Later, Maria and Jeppe's father sets out to look for a pond that they have heard about from great-grandfather's old legend. However, they are surprised by the storm and have to turn around. Jørgen disappears, but recovers thanks to Maria. The kids spend the night on the secret island. Maria reveals the secret with Jørgen's green eyes. Jørgen also has a secret: His father wants to buy Mirabelløya and build a holiday paradise The story is told through 12-year-old Maria.
