About this title

Storyline

About the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) is, as it were, a history of German digitization. From the beginnings of the hacking culture in West Germany to the emergence of the World Wide Web, from Facebook and worldwide networking to the Snowden scandal, the story of the CCC also tells the growth of Germany in the digital world. In 1985, German hacker Karl Koch and some colleagues founded the Computer-Stammtisch in a pub of the Hanover-Oststadt, which developed later into the Chaos Computer Club Hanover. Together with the hackers known as DOB (Dirk-Otto Brezinski), Pengo (Hans Heinrich Hübner), and Urmel (Markus Hess), Koch was involved in selling hacked information from United States military computers to the KGB via the GDR.
