Misantropica

Storyline

Misantropica is a hybrid between a sitcom and a soap about existential fear and solipsism. The web series follows four aspiring poets lost in the banality of their own lives. Coincidence unites them in a poetry collective, an alliance of ambitions and illusions where each is struggling for recognition and against envy and themselves. A yuppie-like benefactor, a psychiatrist in need of therapy and an all too diligent servant for the unemployment agency complicate their road to success. Playwright Yannick Van Puymbroeck created this DIY-series in 2015 with a budget of exactly EUR0. Not only was he responsible for scenario and direction, but without any prior experience he also managed filming, sound and editing. The main cast was made up by some of the actors of his former theatre company Arto Bruto.
