About this title

Storyline

Inspired by the American Popular Song of the same title, this series revolves around the growing relationship between Jeanie MacDowell and her future husband/aspiring songwriter, Stephen Foster. Mostly based loosely on their lives and set in the 19th century, it's a fictionalized version of the events that take place and they experience along the way to reaching their goals. A coming of age tale that begins with Jeanie, Stephen, and a black boy named Bill playing music together as a trio. But after tragedy strikes in her family, Jeanie decides to revise her goals and devote her life to the medical profession instead. Over the course of the three years that take place, Jeanie has some impact one way or another on everyone she meets. Several characters also play a part and are involved in performing Stephen's songs, many of which would later become well-renowned. For the most part, it basically could be described as a what-if story in the events that happened in the lives of Jeanie and Stephen in addition to the most apparent aspect.
