Storyline

Season 1 Synopsis: In 2050, people rarely drive on roads since cars are long gone and replaced by future traveling technologies. A newly engaged couple Joanna and Dan go for the traditional way to drive back home during Christmas Eve as a special celebration for their engagement. However, an unexpected car accident on the road terminates their happiness forever with the death of Dan. Joanna then signs up for a memory-erasing surgery called "Catalyst", which can erase her selected memories with a dreaming-like process. During the surgery, Joanna experiences her important memories of Daniel following the time order. She gradually starts to enjoy too much of being with Daniel and even forgets about the surgery. She finally comes to a realization about the surgery process when she sees a man who wears a doctor's gown appears in her memory of the engagement dinner. Joanna tries to chase the man and call the surgery off but things do not go as she wishes. THEME: Technology could weaken humanity in the near future. Fact 1: As there are already many known side effects of using modern technology, the negativity could reach a much higher level in the near future. Digital devices and social media already are necessary elements in people's life, even though they could cost users invisible prices such as time waste, health issues, lack of experience and etc. However, the majority of people still overly rely on using technology without awarding of these side effects. Imagine in the future when people also have the option to actually change humanity with technology. As normal as owning a floor cleaning robot or "Alexa" in today's time, future generations will definitely used to many other advanced technologies. In many films and fiction, mental pressure and relationships become the biggest difficulties for humans in the future. So that procedures such as erasing memory with one simple surgery seem very likely to be seen as a common as painkillers in the future. Fact 2: Scientists already know the technology of erasing painful memories from the human brain. I think it is the same matter as facing cloning technology due to the fact that these technologies against the nature of humanity. In my opinion, scientists are holding back such technologies from the pubic for certain reasons. If everyone has free access to these technologies in the future, it might lead to an uncontrollable disaster for the human race.
